Co Mayo Student Awarded Prize

Maeve Moran, of Westport, Co Mayo, has been awarded the FACCENDA PRIZE & AXWORTHY TROPHY 2004. Maeve, a final year student at Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, England, was awarded the prize after being named the best student on industrial placement within the poultry industry.Maeve, who will graduate next summer, studies BSc/BSc Honours Agriculture with Animal Science. A former student of the Sacred Heart Secondary School, Westport, she spent her placement year with J & A.O. Griffiths where she worked mainly on computerising and cataloguing the order books. Her efforts have made the system more efficient and organised to allow easy access and tracking of client’s orders form initial placing to completion.
Maeve initially studied at Harper Adams on the University Access course from 2000-2001. Following very successful completion of this course she progressed to the BSc Agriculture with Animal Science course.
